Joshua Love Shootin'

Sixteen-year-old gunslinger, Joshua Love, the star of my "Desperado" Western noir novel series, showing us his fast-draw method. I did this with a plain old number 2 pencil, since I couldn't find my good drawing pencils. I don't like using No. 2's, but they're all right for a quick sketch, I guess.

Anyway, you can read some of Joshua's stories at OutlawStarr.com, and while you're there, visit the bookstore and check out the print editions of the books!

Yessirree, It's Been a While...

  • Mood: Love
  • Listening to: "Shotgun Boogie," Tennessee Ernie Ford
  • Reading: "Desperado Dawn," (I'm editing it!)
  • Watching: shadows on the wall
  • Playing: a little Spanish guitar
  • Eating: triple chocolate creme cake
  • Drinking: iced tea
I finally got DSL at home!!! So now maybe I can get back to doing a little socializing around these parts. (^o^)

For those who haven't been keeping up with my doings, outside of dA, it might interest you to know that I've been furiously writing Western Noir novels. I've published the first drafts of said novels on my website at KaiStarr.com, and now also have two of the "Desperado" series novels for sale in print edition! Check those out on the bookstore page.

I hope to get back to making more art, soon, and to start myself off, I've just added a new sketch of the star of my "Desperado" series, Joshua Love, in which he shows off his fast-draw shooting technique. Hope you all like it!

Heya! I'm kinda sorta still around. Right now, though, I am stuck with a 26k internet connection, so it's really hard for me to make it to all the sites I used to frequent! I'm hoping to get broadband, sometime in the next few months. Then I can be Mr. Social, again. :P I do miss looking at everyone's art and talking to folks!

Hello :) Long time no chat! How is life? How goes the music?

Hiya! Life is kinda...meh. Music is on hold, until I can get a place set up for recording again. Got to get that done, soon, though! I want to do another album for RPM Challenge, this year! How are thing with you?

Aww, sorry to hear life is being meh :(. Are you not doing music-for-fun while you wait for a chance to record? What's RPM Challenge?

My life is hectic. I'm working too hard, studying to hard, sleeping too little, and missing my ex-boyfriend. But apart from that, it's good :) I'm playing much music, drawing too little, and I got to see Natalie Klien play 'cello on Wednesday, which was awesome!

Heh Oh well. I go through lots of "meh" periods, in my life. Most of it has been "meh," in fact! I'm not in a place where I can easily get to my instruments, either, so all I've been able to do is poot around in GarageBand and play with loops. That's not really making music, imo.

RPM Challenge is like NaNoWriMo for musicians. You write, perform and record a full album of music (10 songs or 35 minutes of music) during the month of February. I've won it, the last two years in a row. I'm trying again this year, but things will have to change FAST for me to get my mini studio set up, again! It's at [link] Just in case you want to sign up for it and play along, put in Kaichi as how you heard about it, so I get recruitment credit. :P

I guess a hectic life is, in some ways, better than a boring one! Sounds like you're staying very busy, at least. I'm sorry you're missing the ex; that's never a good feeling. :( *great big ol' hugs*

I do have a new book out, though! [link] I should blog about it, but I'm having trouble accessing the dA site, right now. I'm surprised I got this far, this time!

 Aww, I'm sad to hear your life is mainly meh :( GarageBand is useful. I drafted my organ piece in GarageBand before putting into Finale. Also, some of those loops include little things that make good seed-ideas to turn into much bigger projects.

There's no way I'd have time to write 10 songs in February this year! I've got the huge-great-organ-work-that's-turning-into -a-concerto to work on for college, which is turning into a massive project, and a rather weird Eastern European folk music inspired song to finish for college, and more recorder practice to do than I have time for! I might have a go next year, and I'll remember to mention you as how I heard of it :)

A hectic life is good up to a point, but if I start getting seriously sleep deprived, stressed and grouchy again, it will not be pleasant. The situation with the ex is complicated, and I really wish it could at leat be simple.

I got a 404 error for the link :(
