Artist's Comments

This is a good example of my pencil art. It's Jax, again, from "Angels of the Sword," playing his vintage '70s Fender Strat on the sidewalk for money.

I don't know who Jax is, but I like your art. ^^

Thanks! Glad you like it. (^-^) Jax is the star of my new graphic novel, "Angels of the Sword," which I'll probably be starting on the web in January. Not on DA, but on my own site, [link] I figured I'd use the DA account for a little extra promotion. (~-^) Plus, I have tons of friends here, already. I'm just a late Deviant.

Nice... glad to see so little white in it (the big pencil drawing pitfall). I'd say it could be tweaked in some places but overall very nice

Thanks! No piece of art is ever perfect, so at some point, we must just say "I'll stop here." I must disagree with you, though, on white space being a bad thing in pencil drawings. White space is very important for helping the eye move through the art, and also, in some cases, can be used to convey feeling, on its own. A large amount of white space can convey a sense of timelessness or emptiness, sterility, even loneliness. The eye is drawn to the lightest parts of the piece, first, so it can also be used to draw the viewer's attention to the part of the work the artist considers the focal point. It all depends on what the artist is trying to accomplish with his work.

Wow! nice pencilwork :D. Seems like such a cool character...

Ah, thank you! (^-^) Jax is a fictionalized version of me, from my band days. "Angels of the Sword" will be semi-autobiographical, so I'm extra excited about getting it started, soon! I will post links to it, when it debuts, if you are interested in seeing it, too.
